The Collaborative Carnival: “Comic-Con” of Entrepreneurs and Changemakers

The Philippines’ Most Promising Startups and Changemakers Collide at South East Asia’s first Collaboration Festival.

MAKATI, PHILIPPINES – There’s an old African proverb that says, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” What if entrepreneurs could go further by joining forces with individuals who share their values and advocacies?

Young impact entrepreneurs, start-ups, freelancers and professionals are invited to South East Asia’s first ever collaboration festival, The Collaborative Carnival happening this March 27-29 at Green Sun, Pasong Tamo, Makati.

The Collaborative Carnival is a three-day event featuring interactive panels, networking sessions, private investor pitches and action-oriented workshops. The carnival equips participants with linkages and the know-how needed to thrive amidst major developments such as the current ASEAN economic integration.

Showcased in the event are globally recognized thought-leaders from abroad such as Belgian Joomla co-founder Johann Jansens, Forbes’ 30 under 30 entrepreneur Junto Ohki of Shur Group Japan and Swiss – Filipina LizAnKuster of Impact Hub Manila.  Also featured in the festival are local champions of impact entrepreneurship such as Gawad Kalinga’s Tony MelotoLiter of Light’s IllacDiaz, and Richard Dacalos, founder of the Social Play and Innovation Network (SPIN).

Aside from the interactive panels, there will be 15 breakout sessions happening throughout the weekend. Some of the workshops offered are:

·      Crowd Funding – facilitated by the Patch Dulay, creator of the first Filipino crowd-funding platform, The Spark Project

·      Effective Grant Proposal Writing – from U.S. President Obama’s signature program, the Young South East Asian Leaders

·      Public Relations –  led by 20 year practictioner, Mel Dominguez, wherein participants can pitch their story to actual media practitioners in a “Media Speed Dating” activity

·      Digital Media – giving participants insider techniques on how to promote their passion projects through the internet.

Local artists across various genres will be mashing it up and jamming with one another in a Carnival Open Concert on the night of March 28.

The Collaborative Carnival is a joint project of Social Play and Innovation Network (SPIN), a Filipino startup that consolidates multiple disciplines to address social issues through entrepreneurship, and Impact Hub Manila, one of the world’s largest networks of impact entrepreneurs.

Co-presenting the event is Green Sun. The event is done in collaboration with The Shop.PH (by LBC), PLDT SME Group and is supported by Global Shapers Community Manila and U.S. President Obama’s signature program, Young South East Asian Leaders Initiative.

“We’re bringing together the best of what our generation is currently experiencing — a movement towards fun, creative and innovative entrepreneurship, with the unshakeable sense to do good and make a difference” says Ina Flores, co-founder of the Social Play and Innovation Network (SPIN).

The Collaborative Carnival awaits those who want to learn, link, and mix things up for a forward-looking generation of new-school entrepreneurs.
