Acer, ASUS, MSI, Tatung and KYMCO are familiar brand names that have become an integral part of the Filipino lifestyle. Do you know what else they have in common?
They are Taiwanese brands with the symbol of Taiwan Excellence. All products carrying this symbol have been selected for specific Taiwan Excellence Awards based on their excellence in design, quality, marketing, Taiwanese R&D and manufacturing. This honors Taiwan’s most innovative products that provide tremendous value to users worldwide.
“Actually, Taiwan Excellence products are a part of many people’s lives in Manila: for both work and play,” according to Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin, Ambassador in the Philippines, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). “However, a lot of consumers do not know the ICT products they use everyday come mostly from Taiwan. Let me give you some ideas: Taiwanese companies account for 89% of the world’s production of notebooks and three quarters of the world’s desktop PCs. Taiwan also produces a quarter of the world’s semiconductors and a fifth of the world’s smartphones. Taiwan plays an important role in the global ICT supply chain.”
No wonder Taiwan is the 4th top import country ($5.2B imports) and the 9th top export country ($2.2B exports) in the world, according to the 2015 Philippine Statistics Authority data.
With this, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of Taiwan government and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized the Taiwan Excellence campaign. This is to further strengthen trading ties with the Philippines by building trust and awareness for Taiwanese products among Filipinos.
