My participation in the 1st CALABARZON Tourism Forum made me excited to see more of the Philippines and commit in doing my part to promote it to the rest of the world.
It was almost December and an opportunity came from my friend Herald. He shared with me a project he was working on with the local government unit of Cavinti, Laguna called “CavEAT” or Cavinti Eco-Adventure Tour. A few days later he shared the good news and asked me to block off my weekend following Christmas.
It started raining so for everyone’s safety they have decided to postpone to a later date and tweak the itinerary a bit. Fast forward to January 10, 2015, everyone was excited the night before as we were still chatting / commenting on Facebook while packing our stuff and finishing work.
How to Commute to Cavinti, Laguna
There is no direct commute options going to Cavinti. I joined the group that took the 4:30AM trip from HM Transport Cubao en route to Sta. Cruz, Laguna while others rode DLTB from Buendia. Fare for regular air-conditioned bus is P148.
Take a jeepney or tricyle to Sta. Cruz Market and look for a jeepney bound to Cavinti. If you will go straight to Caliraya Lake, take the Lumban-Cavinti jeep or if you’ll go to the town proper, ride the Pagsanjan-Cavinti jeep.
If you’re coming from Rizal province, take a jeepney from Tanay going to Siniloan, Laguna then take another jeepney to Sta. Cruz.
We weren’t able to catch up on sleep because of the bumpy bus ride but hot pandesal passed around our jeep from Herald, his wife Kristine and our guide Ms. Nina from the tourism office was a good pick me up 🙂
Bumbungan Eco-Park
Cool breeze and the Caliraya Lake greeted us while traversing the Lumban-Caliraya-Cavinti road. After 30 minutes, we arrived at our first CavEAT destination! Bumbungan river was dammed at this section where the top of the spillway also served as a wet bridge on the said road.
Since it overflows and becomes non passable, an adjacent bridge was constructed.
Bumbungan Eco-Park is a place where friends and family can have a picnic, swim or relax and wash up after a trip to Cavinti Falls.
The Cavinti Municipal Tourism Office was kind enough to prepare breakfast for us. Their yummy dinuguan, which every household can cook, is the best! I didn’t want to be bloated when we start with the activities (and I know there will be a lot of food) so I had to pass off on another serving.

Before officially starting our eco-adventure, Cavinti Tourism Officer Ms. Nitzshell dela Torre conducted a short briefing regarding Cavinti, their festivals and upcoming plans.
