The first Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Documentary Film Festival is organized by the European embassies in the Philippines with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FCP).
The Embassies of Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden present TODAY IS OUR FUTURE: The First SDG Documentary Film Festival, in commemoration of the International Human Rights Day (December 10). The first of its kind in Manila, the festival aims to raise awareness on sustainable development as both a responsibility and a human right, with 6 international documentary films highlighting specific United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
TODAY IS OUR FUTURE runs from December 2-5 at the University of Santo Tomas, and from December 6-8 at Gateway Cineplex Cinema 10.

Austria: The Green Lie
2017 | 93min
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Environmentally-friendly electric cars, sustainably-produced food, fair production: hooray! The big companies would have us believe that we can save the world by just buying the right stuff. But this is a widespread and dangerous lie. In his latest documentary, Werner Boote joins forces with Katharina Hartmann, an expert in greenwashing, to explore how we can fight back against this lie. Stop the Green Lies!
Denmark: The War Show
2016 | 100min
SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
In March 2011, radio host Obaidah Zytoon and her circle of friends join the street protests against President Bashar al-Assad, as the Arab Spring reaches Syria. Knowing their country would be changed forever, this group of artists and activists began filming their lives and the events around them. A deeply personal road movie, the film captures the fate of Syria through the intimate lens of a small circle of friends.
Germany: Thinking Like A Mountain
2018
SDG 13: Climate Action
The Netherlands: Why We Cycle
2017 | 57min
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
To the Dutch, cycling is as normal as breathing. We don’t think about it, we just do it. Perhaps the fact that we don’t think about it, is the key to the bicycle’s success in this country. But because we don’t give cycling a second thought, we don’t really know what the deeper needs of cyclists are. In the documentary ‘Why We Cycle’ we take a ride with ordinary cyclists and specialists from a variety of disciplines. These conversations uncover some obvious, but even more hidden effects of cycling to people, on societies, and on the organization of cities.

Philippines: Sunday Beauty Queen
