021 Maker Space Dream Incubator, Binondo’s First Cowo, Set to Open Soon

021 Maker Space Dream Incubator Binondo Manila

021 Maker Space Dream Incubator, Manila’s Chinatown district’s first coworking space and business incubator, opens this September 2020.

The community quarantine in relation to the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic disrupted our daily lives. Employees from non-essential industries have been working remotely since March. There are people who lost their corporate jobs and turned to online freelancing or starting a small business to keep afloat. Kids won’t be attending school in person for a while and will rely on technology for their education. Working and studying from home is economical but it isn’t always the best choice. This is because most homes do not have a conducive space for business and not everyone has uninterrupted internet access.

This is why shared office space rentals or popularly known as coworking spaces (“cowo”) have been around for years. They provide a space for work, fast internet, free-flowing coffee, and other services which the user can pay from hourly to monthly rates.

Residents within and near Binondo, Manila will have access one in the near future.

021 Maker Space Dream Incubator will be housed in Co Ban Kiat building, a pre-war era structure previously known as S. J. Wilson building. It used to be the headquarters of the Manila Stock Exchange and prominent companies and firms such as the Japanese Consulate office, Phil Am Life Insurance, France Consulate, Switzerland Consulate, etc.

The cowo assures to offer competive rates and welcome companies of all sizes, freelancers, and even students for their coworking, private office, or virtual office needs. They will occupy over 836 square meters in the 8th floor – equivalent of 170 rentable desks, private workstations, meeting rooms, phone booths, and nursery room. The modern and elegantly-furnished space will have ample seatings available in their cozy lounges and events venue.

Guests and members can expect Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with up to 1Gbps high speed internet, professional/business/community events, round the clock cleaning team, and complimentary refreshments.

With the vision to turn ventures from “zero to one”, thus the name 021 Maker Space, it will also serve as an incubation hub to fund promising startup business (venture capital) and potentially growing them into multinational brands.

It may be a challenge opening a coworking space during a pandemic with all the healthy safety protocols and anxiety over virus transmission but the owners (021 Group OPC) believes that coworking is still the future of work and capital venture can contribute to the country’s economic growth. The 021 Maker SPACE Dream Incubator will serve to provide vital business services and support the remote workforce closer to where they are.
