Committed to making the world a better place, Sharp Philippines – now on its 33rd year in the country – continues in its tradition of introducing innovations that aim to improve the lives of Filipino families nationwide. The company does this not only through its lineup of impressive home appliances, but also via its array of initiatives that seek to capture the hearts of Filipino customers.
As a way of providing both service and innovation to the country during the Digital TV transition, Sharp Philippines now offers the first ISDB-T TV fully equipped with the two most crucial features of this digital standard: the EWBS (Emergency Warning Broadcast System) and BML (Broadcast Markup Language) Data Broadcasting. ISDB-T, or Integrated Services Digital Broadcast-Terrestrial is a Japanese digital broadcasting system that was chosen by the Philippine government because of EWBS, a special disaster warning feature that can send alerts to all ISDB-T-ready devices. As of this writing, Sharp Digital TV remains the only TV in the Philippines to be fully equipped with all the features of ISDB-T.
Because Sharp considers service as part of its innovative lineup, it has now fully revamped its customer service with the introduction of Omotenashi. Omotenashi is a uniquely Japanese concept of hospitality that turns service into a personalized experience. With this philosophy, Sharp aims to provide even better service in its 142 authorized service centers and 22 service center branches all over the country. With Omotenashi, touted by the brand as “service beyond expectations,” customers can expect a quick turnaround time for repairs under the 1-1-1 initiative, which promises a one-hour revert, one-day response to queries, and one-week repair. Sharp is also renovating its service centers all over the country, starting with its Davao City branch, to provide a more convenient and comfortable experience for customers who come in to visit for queries, product advice, or repair.
Sharp Philippines also has a strong Corporate Social Responsibility program that regularly works on giving back to the country, with efforts focused on disaster relief, environmental protection and education, and safety and health nationwide. Through its “Sharp Cares” program, Sharp Philippines and its employees donated various relief items to the Philippine Red Cross-Rizal Chapter, Muntinlupa branch for the victims of the destructive 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the Visayas region. The company was also involved in the “Juan for Tree: Sierra Madre Tree-Planting Project,” which involved planting trees in the Nueva Vizcaya side of the Sierra Madre mountain range to replace the depleted tropical tree ecosystem in the area.
As part of its efforts to educate the public, Sharp Philippines regularly reaches out to grade schools to teach simple ways on how to take care of the environment, primarily through the Three R concept: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It also donates new and slightly-used books to the Haven for Children in Muntinlupa City as part of its yearly education drive, and just recently donated toys of the children of the Hospicio de San Jose in Manila.
Sharp Philippines aims to continue providing a better life for the Filipino family with its innovative products and service. This is a commitment pushed by Sharp through its “Our Brand, Our Pride” philosophy, a pledge to uplift the quality of Filipinos’ lives through outstanding products and superior services.
