Welcome July with Rain and Music

July 3, 2012

My kind of perfect during this rainy season is staying in my bed, spending time reading a good book or browsing different blogs on my smartphone, drinking a hot cup of tea/choco and listening to music? I know you do too ♥

But most of us tend to sleep and sleep 😛

It was raining and I started belting out some old songs that I randomly thought of. I then remembered my conversation with my friends where they told me a lot of our common artists’ are releasing a new album soon. Also, an unknown song that played when I opened a random Tumblr account earlier helped trigger my memory. So I went on my usual routine.

Seems like Maroon 5, who is known for their pop songs *insert ♪sunday morning, rain is falling~♪*, is delving into the world of techno in their newest album “Overexposed“. The album’s popular lead single “Payphone” is a mid-tempo ballad with hip-hop influence, the song explores lyrically “the way a relationship used to be and the way they no longer are.

Mylo Xyloto

Another notable band, Coldplay, released a uniquely-named album: Mylo Xyloto (which I came to know that it was released last year, but I just knew it last week lol). The album is said to be “based on a love story with a happy ending.” I’ve yet to have a copy of this album and listen to the tracks.

Now I’ll share what’s new AND what I can recommend. Note that, I prefer to post the lyric videos so you can sing along if you get to like the song(s) ^_^

Feeling insecure or lonely? Are you bullied? Find your inner strength and confidence with this song:

Kris Allen – The Vision of Love

Album: Thank You Camellia

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q04LNvo4Jis]

I don’t wanna run, I don’t wanna hide
When someone needs somebody
I don’t wanna say, I don’t got the time
When someone needs somebody
With a little faith and a little soul
We can’t go wrong

How about a ballad about loss and regret? Reminisce to the beat of this electropop, R&B and electronic rock-influenced track.

Coldplay feat. Rihanna – Princess of China

Album: Mylo Xyloto

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDj3sorWXbE]

Once upon a time we fell apart
You’re holding in your hands the two halves of my heart

Facing the reality of a break up and moving on? Try this mid-tempo, electronic and dance-pop power ballad:

Katy Perry – Wide Awake

Album: Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection (2012)

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3D5FwwtNVM]

I’m wide awake
Yeah, I am born again
Outta the lion’s den
I don’t have to pretend
And it’s too late
The story’s over now, the end

Aside from pop culture, I have two new Christian songs that I’ve taken a liking.

Mariah Hostrander – Perfect Love

I can’t find a video on Youtube, so I uploaded the MP3 file on my Tumblr account along with the lyrics. You can buy it on iTunes.

It’s hard to imagine why
You would give up your life
For a mess that is in progress
And I, can’t even fathom why
You never leave my side
I guess that’s what your love is

It isn’t contingent
You’ve given something I will never be without

Dakota Green – Can’t Get Enough

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrCsNAnn5MM]

You are everything I need.
You are my world and my heartbeat, beat, beat.
I can’t get enough of Your love.
You are everything that I’ve searched for.
All my dreams and so much more, more, more.
I can’t get enough of Your love,
Get enough, can’t get enough of Your love.
Get enough, can’t get enough of Your love.

Some little facts:

  • In Coldplay’s new album, Mylo refers to a female and Xyloto refers to a male :3
  • The song “Wide Awake” was specifically written for Katy Perry’s upcoming film “Katy Perry: Part of Me”.

I haven’t finished looking for more, so this is it for now. Time to put your headphones on ^_~
