American telecommunications company AT&T together with Golden Gate Ventures, Philippine Software Industry Association and A SPACE Manila held the first Philippine Mobile App Developers Day (PHDD 2014) last December 6 – 7, 2014.
Over sixty (60) participants were divided into 11 teams, each contributed in building a richer and stronger digital ecosystem by collaborating on developing applications following the theme ‘Smart Cities and Community Involvement’ over a twenty-four (24) hour period.
The following applications were pitched on December 7: BantayCiudad, HowYouCanHelp, Response, What Are You Craving For?, E-Jeep Tracker, RescueWhere, TollPass, Crowdnet, food4thought, Cyburban City Trail, and RescYou.
A restaurant app that eliminates queuing in line called “What Are You Craving For?” won third prize ($1,000) while a transportation app for electronic jeepneys passengers called “E-Jeep Tracker” won second prize ($2,000). “TollPass“, a solution for smarter road tolls which helps reduce traffic jams and delays, was declared the grand prize winner ($6,000). All winning teams also get 6 months mentorship from Golden Gate Ventures.
