December 4, 2014

A SPACE Manila, Makati City

I attended my first networking event, hosted by Manila’s premier business networking group Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI) in celebration of their 2nd anniversary.

This member-only group exists to match make individuals, organizations, products, services and venues through unique mixer and educational events. A private pre-party mixer for VIPs, media and community partners was held from 6 – 7 PM followed by the main event.

Esteemed VIPs include 88DB Philippines Inc. CEO Jayjay Viray, deVere Group Associate Wealth Consultant Kevin Barton, Samsung Philippines Head of Sales, IT & Mobile Annaise Fragante, BBDO Guerrero Chief Executive and Author Tony Harris, Business & Professional Women’s Network (Makati) President and ECHOstore/ECHOsi Foundation Co-Founder Jeannie Javelosa, and Bootleg Innovation Design Co-Founder and “Connect / Disconnect” Author Aaron Palileo.

Awesome people at the #ISI mixer last night! Nice meeting you all 😀

It was a mixed crowd of investors, entrepreneurs, start ups, top executives, young professionals and other industry-wide influencers, both new and old with these type of events. That made me at ease, aside from knowing there are friendly faces in the crowd like fellow blogger Jaja Ramirez (whom I was with at an earlier event), NDFY.me’s Glen Macadaeg, and Sir Diego. The event paved way for me to finally meet Sir Elison of Vigattin Radio in person and guests from AT&T who flew in for the Philippine Mobile App Developers Day event. Most of the people I talked is involved in the tech industry so I didn’t have a hard time finding a common ground. There was an after party at Exit but I decided to call it a night.

Four lucky participants brought home prize packages amounting to around P100,000 full of vouchers/passes, gift certificates and a variety of products c/o community partners. Portion of the ticket sales was donated to Called To Rescue Philippines, a non-profit worldwide organization given to rescuing minor children from sex trafficking, violence and abuse.
