5 Ways to Kill Time on a Rainy Day

November 20, 2012

It’s starting to get cooler and wetter outside, and soon there will be rain and snow. Rainy days don’t have to be a downer though, and there are a lot of fun things that you can do inside to make the day memorable.

rainWatch a Movie

Rainy days can also be relaxing days. Sometimes, there is nothing better than lying on the couch under a warm blanket, and watching a movie. It could be this week’s new release, or it could be a classic, but either way, it is a great way to kill some time.

Play a Family Board Game

A rainy day is a great excuse to make some family time. Dust off those old board games and get the family together to play a few games. Since you’re staying in, the kids may need some activities, so if you have one that requires some running around, even better!

Play an Online Game

Tired of playing board games? Try to play an online game or other interactive game to give yourself some different stimulation. There are a wide variety of games that you can play online – either on your computer or tablet – that allow you to interact with others while still being in the comfort of your pajamas under a warm blanket.

Solve a Puzzle

A rainy day is a great day to kill some time solving a puzzle. This could be a traditional picture puzzle, or you could even challenge yourself to a crossword puzzle or Sudoku number puzzle. If you’ve never done it before, or if it’s been a few years, this can be a great way to stimulate your mind and kill some time.

Catch Up on Home Projects

Finally, you probably have a few unfinished home projects around the house that you could catch up on. A rainy day is perfect for some indoor home improvement projects, so force yourself to do it so you can cross it off your to-do list.
