It’s funny where life takes us. The places we go to, the people we meet along the way, the experiences and lessons we forever keep in our hearts.. I always believe there’s a reason for everything. One thing that happens, whether happy or not, is there to make us say that “I experience this, I understand how it feels now.”
A month ago I greeted a friend Happy Birthday. Mentioning that my gift will be given late, she invited me to go out with the little brother, Sean. In a way you can say we are long time friends. We’ve known each other since 2007. But I’ve never had much discussions with her and I’m closer with Sean. It was usually common courtesy. Simple hi-hello, invitation to eat when she was eating or simple questions about series, movies or books.
Because I was their brother’s then-girlfriend.
Yesterday I attended the Accenture Manila Technology Talk held at Dusit Thani Hotel, Ayala Center, Makati City. The event was about “The Evolution of JavaServer Faces“.
As far as I know I haven’t used JSF but I did work on JSPs and Servlets before, as well as your usual basic Java in school.
I have a fascination with Steampunk items. Maybe it was influence from anime or games but I don’t know when I started to take a liking.
What is Steampunk anyway?
In three short words: Victorian science fiction, where Victorian references to a time period and an aesthetic: the industrialized 19th century.
To me, it’s more than brass, gears and watchparts. I regard each piece as art. Take a look at some pieces that I like:
Once in a while I have this knack of searching Tumblr for the tag “OJT” or “Internship” for no reason at all. Reading the entries though, especially those from CS/IT fields or those that are kinda ranting that they still have xx hours left to finish while whining makes me look back on my On-the-Job training.
I admit, I’m in the state of confusion in a certain part of my life. That is, aside from being very busy and battling with colds that I’m not able to update my blog. I use all my time to work, watch NCIS episodes when I’m resting and sleep.
I turn to music too, when I want to focus on what I am doing or when I’m thinking about things. Or when I want to find answers. In another search of a beautiful song to add in my list, I stumbled upon Jason Mraz: “I Won’t Give Up“.
I used to live a life where I was always playing safe. I think being brought up in a sheltered environment made me that way. I don’t play outside with other kids, unless I am in school. I had a service from grade school up to 2nd year high school. I don’t go out alone to the mall and the places that I know is just my hometown and the mall nearest our house.
All of that changed in high school. I learned to play computer games. I get to go to my classmate’s house for projects/practice. I get to commute everyday on my own.
And a lot of firsts in college. I don’t say I already tried everything that there is. I still have a lot ahead of me. Things that people tell me I have to try to do because it’s fun, it’s inspiring, it’s interesting, etc. To live each day as if it’s the last, to live life to the fullest. And this is where this quote comes in.
I do things that I love, I decide on my own, I do what makes me happy.. As long as it’s not against my principles in life.
Even if it means I stand alone. 🙂
I love food. I’m the type of person who loves to eat and don’t fuss about the weight gain. I love to try new restaurants and give my feedback/recommendation about it. Above all, I’m a sweet tooth. I love cakes, ice cream and chocolate. It definitely makes my day especially when I’m down or blue or just down right stress.
