Early November I saw the major roads within Makati Business District lit up for Christmas. That meant the annual Ayala Triangle Gardens Lights and Sounds show was just around the corner!
This year’s Festival of Lights was a collaboration between award-winning directors Voltaire de Jesus and Luther Gumia with musical scoring by acclaimed musicians and composers Jazz Nicholas and Mikey Amistoso of Watusi Manila, according to AyalaLand. It is co-presented with HSBC and also made possible by MasterCard, Coca-Cola, Sun Life and Oishi.
Crowds flocked the Ayala Triangle Gardens to watch more than a million lights dance to the tune of familiar, upbeat melodies. The show was divided in three themes namely Christmas Fiesta, Classic and Epic Christmas, and Sweet and Magical Christmas.
It was a good opportunity to practice night photography. I had some difficulties with the manual settings of my Nikon D3000 (I had to keep adjusting since the lights keep changing). I took safety shots via my smartphone then put away my gear to enjoy the show.
Bright lights, big city. ISO 50, f/20, 1/60s

Here’s a quick preview:
This is my third year to witness the lights and sounds show and I try to swing by when I can, by myself or with company. The first time was in 2012 while I was still working in the area then last year when I had a staycation at Red Planet Hotel Amorsolo.
You still have time to catch the Ayala Triangle Gardens Festival of Lights with your family or friends. The show runs every 30 minutes from 6PM to 10PM until January 8, 2017!
