Urban Adventures: The Hong Kong Cyclothon
Hong Kong’s biggest cycling spectacle, the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, returns on 11 October.
- The Route: Cyclists can choose between scenic 56 km and 32 km non-competitive rides. Both routes offer the rare privilege of riding through major thoroughfares, tunnels, and landmark bridges that are completely closed to regular vehicular traffic.
- Registration Details: Rider registration officially opens at 10:00 a.m. on 20 August via the Discover Hong Kong Cyclothon event portal.
Off the Course non-cyclists can soak up the atmosphere at the West Kowloon Cultural District, where the Cyclothon Carnival will feature all-day entertainment, sports displays, gourmet food stalls, and family-friendly activities.
Cultural Heritage: Lanterns & Fire Dragons
Autumn celebrations officially kick off with the Mid-Autumn Festival, an essential cultural gathering focused on family reunions, mooncakes, and moon-watching.
- Victoria Park Lantern Display (17–27 September): Features Nanjing’s renowned Qinhuai Lanterns alongside an International Lantern Corridor showcasing festive artisan crafts from over 20 countries
- Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance (24–26 September): A historic tradition where a glowing, incense-laden dragon weaves through the neighbourhood streets.
Epicurean Highlights: Wine & Dine Festival
From 29 October to 1 November, the Central Harbourfront hosts the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival against Victoria Harbour, which will feature over 300 stalls, curated vintage tastings, and masterclasses. The public can also look forward to the debut of the “Only in Hong Kong”, a showcase of signature dishes from over 100 venues ranging from local culinary gems to Michelin-starred dining rooms.
The festivities will continue throughout November with Hong Kong Wine & Dine Month, bringing exclusive dining offers, curated menus, and gourmet experiences to restaurants, bars, and hotels across the city, inviting visitors to discover Hong Kong’s diverse and dynamic food scene.
Citywide Festivities: Halloween Street Parties & Thrills
October marks Hong Kong’s first-ever coordinated citywide Halloween celebration.
- Nightlife & Costumes: Lan Kwai Fong anchors the after-dark revelry, complemented by themed dining along Soho and Knutsford Terrace. Those in search of costumes and accessories can head to Pottinger Street in Central, Tai Yuen Street in Wan Chai, or Fuk Wing Street in Sham Shui Po.
- Key Dates: Two warm-up party weekends take place on 17 October and 24 October, leading up to the main celebration on 31 October.
- Theme Parks: Both Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland roll out dedicated seasonal programming, haunted houses, and spooky shows throughout the month.
