Sorting through my photo gallery and organizing it by event, I came across pictures from the first time I held and fire an actual gun.
Fret not! I didn’t hurt anyone in the process. This transpired on the eve of the COMELEC imposed gun ban (January 11 2013), during the 4th PNP Firing Range Invitation Shoot Fest held at Camp Crame, Quezon City. People from traditional media and bloggers were present during the informative orientation about basic fire arm safety.
We participated in a fun shoot! Standard issued gun (I think it was a .45 caliber) + 5 bullets. This is now or never.. *insert gunshot SFX here*
Score: 4 / 5! Talk about beginner’s luck 😀
I was the last in the group to participate. It’s so scary to hold a gun. You can’t make mistakes. I had to hold it with both hands to hold the gun in place when it recoils. I didn’t know how I’ll shoot the targets until I imagined holding a camera (gun) and looking through the viewfinder (aligned front and rear sight). Who would have thought photography skills will come in handy? 🙂
We were given another chance to try it but I declined. We didn’t participate in the Course of Fire itself. It was fun, but I don’t think I’ll pick it up as a hobby. Too dangerous for my nature.. :3
Of course, I pledged to support responsible gun ownership!
Thank you to Ms. Cherry for the invite!
