I needed to search on some stuff so I typed in google.com.ph in my browser. Today Google has honored Alan Turing, one of the known men in the filed of computing, an interactive Google Doodle.
A functioning, interactive version of the Turing Machine involves six tasks, spelling out the word Google in binary and making each letter color up one by one after each successful try.“A classroom is the best place to nurture our future leaders, the next generation of God-loving and nationalist Filipinos.”
– Jose Andes, National Director of Athletes in Action (AIA) Philippines.
I’ve always been an advocate of free and alternative education. Because education, for me, is indeed a right of every child. The fact that aside from inability of students to enroll because of poverty or high tuition fees, there’s the problem of lack of classrooms and facilities for learning, which makes me sad. For the people of Iligan City, the situation worsened after Typhoon Sendong back in 2011.
FILA and AIA invited bloggers last June 20 to spread the word for their noble cause — AIA’s first-ever student-based fun run entitled “Schools Run for School Rooms” aims to raise funds for the rehabilitation of classrooms in the said city.
To date, with 15,000 runners who have signed up to date, the Schools Run for School Rooms (SRSR) marathon will be gathering student-runners from major colleges and universities, to bring a glimmer of hope to Iligan city, where eager students have to do with makeshift classrooms as the school year starts. Thirteen (13) of known universities and colleges in our country have signified their interest to join the advocacy run. Also participating are groups from government agencies, private corporations and churches, as well as running enthusiasts.

THE VENTUNO COLLECTION. One of American Standard’s newest luxury line of bathroom fixtures, designed by award-winning designer, Franco Bertoli.I’m one of the lucky bloggers who were able to score a special invite for the advance screening and press conference of the French movie Special Forces. Held last June 8, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia, the press conference came first at the IMAX Theater then the advanced screening at Cinema 1.
Coming alone as always, I am glad to meet and share this experience with a fellow blogger and movie buff.
Silly People’s Improv Theater (SPIT), the county’s premiere improvisational theater troupe, will be celebrating its tenth anniversary by mounting the MANILA IMPROV FEST 2012: The First Philippine International Improv Festival, from June 28 to July 1 at the College of St. Benilde and at Quantum Cafe.
The International Buddhist Progress Society, Manila (IBPS) will host a free public screening of One Day on Earth at the Five Contemplations Hall of the Mabuhay Temple on 11 June 2012 at 7:30 pm. Mabuhay Temple is located at 656 Pablo Ocampo St., Malate, Manila.
One Day on Earth is a full-length documentary feature that holds the distinction of being the first film ever to include footage from every country on earth, all captured on a single day – 10 October 2010. The film provides a unique look into a wide array of human activities and even offers intimate access to rarely seen images from countries such as North Korea, Iran and Kosovo.
The film was able to beautifully capture the interconnectedness of human beings by showing the shared triumphs and challenges of all people on earth. The film’s director and founder Kyle Ruddick and co-founder and executive producer Brandon Litman, with the support of the United Nations and a global community of filmmakers, has succeeded in creating a video time capsule of one day on planet earth, making the documentary a great achievement, not only in film making, but also in human cooperation.
IBPS is honored that Mabuhay Temple was selected as one of the few venues to screen One Day on Earth in the Philippines. IBPS is an organization affiliated with the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Buddhist order based in Taiwan with Mabuhay Temple being its branch temple in Manila. Other FGS branch temples in the Philippines are located in Cebu, Bacolod and Iloilo. Apart from regular Buddhist prayer services, Mabuhay Temple regularly holds other activities such as lectures, open mic events, film screenings, temple tours, study groups and short educational programs.

Etsy: Hunger Games Pendant Necklace by Tina Lau (Shininggift)
By Dems Angeles on June 1, 2012Waking up to a sunny yet chill morning, I knew it was going to be a good day, even if it rains. My day brightened up more when the package I’ve been waiting for has arrived.
As everyone knows I have been online shopping earlier May, wherein I got to purchase a bag from Chicify and a pair of doll shoes from Zalora.
In conjunction to my earlier post about a past relationship, you might have noticed that aside from a change in theme, I also changed my blog’s title.
One day I went out of the house to buy street food beside our village’s main gate. On my way home, I was getting tired of listening to my favorite songs that I shuffled my playlist and try other tracks that were there but I never really listen to.
Then I came across David Archuleta‘s song from his 2010 album, “The Other Side of Down”. Listening intently to the lyrics, I found a connection to my current dilemma at the time. Add the crazy weather and my sudden preference for everything simple and viola~
