Now we go to Manila Central Post Office Building, the head office of Philpost.
It was built in 1926 and has a neoclassical architecture. Inside the compound it houses the Postal Museum and Library (which unfortunately we didn’t get to explore). This is also where the Filipinas Stamp Collectors Club regularly holds their meetings, lectures and auctions every third Sunday of the month from 1pm to 5pm.

Gathered at the Liwasang Bonifacio, the tour started with a short lecture by our guide, Sir Lawrence Chan, Vice President of Filipinas Stamp Collectors’ Club. It is then followed by a short introduction of each participant.
Liwasang Bonifacio was formerly known as Plaza Lawton. It was renamed after Andres Bonifacio, whose bronze statue is standing in front of the post office.
I lived my whole life in the city, but in 21 years I haven’t been able to explore all of it. Especially our country’s capital, Manila nor my hometown, Marikina.
Then a unique opportunity presented upon itself one day – a FREE Postal Heritage Guided Tour and Photography on Facebook. Checking my schedule on my ever reliable planner, my Sunday was unmarked and in a heartbeat I emailed Sir Lawrence Chan.
Filipinas Stamp Collectors’ Club conducts the free tour, in cooperation with Philpost, Museo ng Maynila, Intramuros Administration, National Press Club, Winners Foundation, and Department of Education every third Sunday of the month. Lovers of architecture, philately, history and ghost hunting — this is for you! 🙂
We have moments that upon hearing a particular song, it gets stuck with us. You keep singing it, humming it, listening to it. Whether you like the song or not, it does and people call it “Last Song Syndrome” or LSS.
I’m into a particular song for a week or so now, to the point that I can almost perfect the lyrics. The tune is catchy and easy to learn so I don’t have problems with it. I do have the intention to learn the song so I can sing it, but not to the point that I didn’t know why I’m so attached to it.
Or maybe I do..
Ever since I stepped into college, I noticed there were only a few female students studying Computer Science, Information Technology, and all Engineering courses in my university. In my class, a third of it is composed of girls. There are some blocks that have less than 5.
Given that computer-related courses is in the top three choices of most students who enter college, the numbers are small, as is the number of female instructors.
I’m pretty sure everyone has heard about Etsy, the famous online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods, is sponsoring ten grants worth $5,000 each for ten lucky females who need financial support to participate in the summerlong program of Hacker School.
Wait, HACKER school?
To take away the boredom, given I have things to do on my list, I read news articles on the web. That or I read a book or an actual newspaper. It’s nice to be updated and entertained by the latest news, gadgets or discoveries.

One of the factors that affect our productivity is our work place. Whether as a student or a professional, we aim to be in an environment where our imagination and creativity is heightened, a place we are comfortable to stay even in long hours and a space that clearly spells “This is me!”.
It is not all the time we get to choose where we work or decorate it. Freelancers and virtual assistants do get to choose though.
Being location-independent, here’s one of my dream set-up:
