Of Last Song Syndromes, Dear Lonely.

April 13, 2012

We have moments that upon hearing a particular song, it gets stuck with us. You keep singing it, humming it, listening to it. Whether you like the song or not, it does and people call it “Last Song Syndrome” or LSS.

I’m into a particular song for a week or so now, to the point that I can almost perfect the lyrics. The tune is catchy and easy to learn so I don’t have problems with it. I do have the intention to learn the song so I can sing it, but not to the point that I didn’t know why I’m so attached to it.

Or maybe I do..

Dear lonely, you hurt me
You just came and knocked me down, that’s right

Dear lonely, you tore me
Say hello, it’s been a while
And you’re here to stay once again

Oohhhh
And I can’t make you go away
So I’ll just beg you please don’t stay
Now filled with tears it’s all because youre here
And there you go again
And there you go again
And there you go again
Dear lonely

I say dear lonely
Now are you happy
Keep on messing with my life, that’s right

What’s the deal lonely, come face me
Why’d you have to come at night
You know it’s not right

Oohhhh
And I can’t make you go away
So I’ll just beg you please don’t stay
Now filled with tears it’s all because youre here
And there you go again
And there you go again
And there you go again
Dear lonely

You’re in my bed when i sleep
And in my pillow you bring tears oooh
I can’t wait by the day that you will leave
If i could only find a way to live in peace
You wouldn’t have to take control over me

And I can’t make you go away
So I’ll just beg you please don’t stay
Now filled with tears it’s all because you’re here
And you are
The rain outside, the wind at night
The time when I turn off the lights
Oh why just can’t you leave me
Or when will this get through
And there you go again
And there you go again
And there you go again
Dear lonely
Ohhhh

This is a song about loneliness and letting it go, represented by the red balloons.. Either about loneliness itself or something/someone that makes the singer sad/hurt which s/he has to let go. That’s my interpretation.

All in all: Love the lyrics, love the rhythm, I can relate to it. Not to mention I love that there’s a violin used in this song. Oh, her fashion sense too :3

The person behind this wonderful music is Zia Quizon. She is compared to Adele (and Pink in this particular song). The way she sings and her voice is soulful. And my current LSS is the perfect example. She has an earlier released catchy song that everyone loves, entitled “Ako Na Lang“.

For those who don’t know, Zia is new but not unfamiliar with the showbiz industry, since her family is very much known: especially her mom (Zsa Zsa Padilla), dad (Dolphy) and sister (Karylle).

Unique voice, unique music, great talent, beauty and brains.. I’m a big fan ♥

Oh, Original Pinoy Music (OPM) is not yet dead people. See for yourself 🙂

  1. Thank you for posting about this artist. I have heard her name, but this is the first time I have heard her voice. Refreshing not to hear a Filipino have a song that does not involve “birit”.

    1. You’re welcome 🙂
Can’t agree more on that note. What drawn me to her was her unique voice and I like how she performs each song. Maganda din yung upbeat song nya na “Ako Na Lang”.

Simple lyrics, simple melodic, soulful performance 😉
