Ericson Luciano is a twenty-three year old web and graphic designer/enthusiast, specializing on print and logo design. Eric or Ewic graduated with a degree of BS Information Technology from City of Malabon University.
He used to work for a private firm here in Manila, now he currently works as a freelance graphic designer. He started freelancing way back 4th year high school via Odesk, to cover school and personal expenses. It also enabled him to decide whether to work in a corporate setting or to stick to freelancing. Most of his clients are referral of friends, from online freelancing sites, Facebook and even people he met on community events.
I’ve met Kuya Ericson via WebGeeks group on Facebook but we actually just met in person last year during Drupal Developers’ Day, where we both volunteer for PHDUG. I have always admired how creative Kuya is, despite how some people treat him because of his disability (which for me is a blessing in disguise), so I asked him to run an interview with me to share about his background, his experience as a graphic designer and his standpoint on some commonly asked questions in this field.
In my teenage years, *cough* made me feel old, but I’m a young adult now *cough* I used to make lots of handwritten letters and handmade gifts. Even if I had to stay up late, it didn’t stop me to work on each piece. Stumbling on crafts while doing syndication tasks made me interested to unleash whatever creativity again. Let’s start with something easy – origami.
The morning of New Year’s Eve, we went over to mom’s house and I jokingly suggested we watch a movie. I remember when we were younger, my mom and my step-dad would bring us to the mall during Christmas and New Year. We would watch one MMFF entry, play at World’s of Fun and eat at the food court or fast-food.
My brother was thinking it was a joke when she agreed. But mom already scheduled it. He only believed it when she said she already bought the tickets, 30 minutes before our agreed meeting time. 🙂
