Way Back into Photography and Photoshop

By on August 12, 2012

Now that the flood’s gone and life’s back to normal (at least here in our area), I’ve been busy cleaning these past few days. A freelance project on-going, a questionnaire I have to fill out and a couple of blog posts to be written, I have to finish all that while nursing myself back into health :’c

Anyway, I took a time off yesterday and decided to work on my Photoshop skills that has been not in use for months now. Here’s the end product:

This is the copy from Facebook. I’m having a hard time upload the original one (big file o_o). Click the picture to see it on Flickr. 🙂

I took this picture after our friend’s wedding last month in Anabel’s Tomas Morato, using my friend’s (the one on standing on the right) Nikon Coolpix P7000. Post-processing and layout done in Photoshop CS 5.5. The picture on the lower right taken by the owner of the camera during their trip in USS.

This was requested by a friend. I did my best and learned a few tricks on the way.

What do you think? I look forward to your comments! Back to coding/writing for now 🙂

[Updated] Please don’t be another Ondoy/Yolanda.. :(

By on August 7, 2012

August 2012

It’s raining cats and dogs here. While I’m typing this, rain has been pouring nonstop and many areas are already submerged in flood, families are being rescued and relocated to evacuation centers, and classes for tomorrow are being suspended one by one.

Aside from the leak on our bedroom from the ceiling, so far, we’re doing okay. But it doesn’t mean we’re just gonna sit here and do nothing. I want to be better prepared now than how we were during Ondoy.

Let me share the pictures back then.

Accenture Shaping the Future Forum 2012 Experience [Updated]

By on August 3, 2012

I may be out-of-school but I make it a point to learn something new everyday, especially in my field of study. Learning isn’t situated only in the four corners of the classroom. Whether a new jargon, the latest news in technology or a new snippet of code, I never fail to update myself.

As far as I can remember, the last seminar/workshop I have attended was sponsored by Globe Labs & Microsoft (HTML5 + JavaScript and Developing Apps using Windows 8 Metro Style Apps Workshop). Fast forward to July 26 at past 6pm, I was already in queue outside the Isla Ballroom of EDSA Shangri-la Manila for the Accenture: Shaping the Future Forum 2012.

Feels like a student again.. No ID, no entry 😛

Pinoys are natural pet lovers. To date, the Philippines is one of the top 5 countries in the world with the most number of household pets. But gone were the days when pets are merely trusty watchdogs at home. Many owners have come to treat their pets as companions, friends and even as kids of their own.

What used to be just veterinary clinics to give medical attention to our pets, now services are being offered for all sorts of our pet needs. From pet dental clinics, to grooming salons, obedience class for pets and even pet hotels. All are aimed to provide the best care for our beloved animal friends.

But one important need for our pet is often overlooked- the need for a decent resting place when they pass on.

Tanjoubi omedetou, Syao-kun!

By on July 15, 2012

If you ask me who is my favorite male anime character right now, I would definitely give you the same answer since I was in grade school – Li Syaoran of Cardcaptor Sakura.

Li Syaoran hails from Hong Kong. The successor of the powerful Li clan, his family consists of his mother, his four sisters and Wei (I count him here because he basically raised Syaoran through the years). He went to Japan to get the Clow cards but falls in love with the enemy 😛

He looks tough on the outside. Yes, he might have been a bit harsh to Sakura at first. But this guy has values, dreams and a loving soul.
