’13 Untold Stories: Manila International Book Fair

December 25, 2013

When September hits, I get excited. Not only does the Christmas season in the Philippines start, one of my favorite conventions takes stage at SMX Mall of Asia, Pasay.

Starting last year, I’m making it a habit to visit the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) – all for the love of books! Thank God for fair weather that day! I don’t like making trips down south if I don’t need to.. because I’m lazy. Nah! Either I face moderate-heavy traffic, make shorter trips with multiple transfers or worse, while it’s raining cats and dogs! 🙁

I wasn’t planning to buy any books at the time so my agenda was limited to [1] window shopping, [2] claim the children’s book I won from OMF Literature’s online raffle, [3] meet my fellow blogger, Nitoy of Delighting Grace, [4] drop by Ms. Marlene Munar’s book launch-slash-signing for “Life in the Middle” and [5] drop by Pastor Ronald Molmisa’s book launch-slash-signing for “Lovestruck: Sexy Edition” (I did swing by but the venue was very crowded, even before the scheduled time).

All that walking made us hungry, so we chose a random food shop at SM Mall of Asia. Got to talk about stuff over [late] lunch.

The highlight of my trip to MIBF was getting a handwriting analysis (thank you Sir Rence Chan for convincing me!). It was conducted by Mr. Jaypee Reyes, President/CEO of Handwriting Masters Analysts of the Philippines, Inc. (HandMAP). Handwriting analysis is a science also known as graphology, used in the purpose of assessing one’s character.

In cursive I wrote my name, my occupation, a short description about myself and the phrase “I love you!” on a sheet of paper, including my signature. And according to him, I am / I have..

  • flexibility, adaptability
  • determined, vigilant
  • enthusiastic
  • balance in physical, emotional and mental aspects
  • friendly but private
  • euphemistic

There were some things he mentioned that is not on the list, but it was very spot on. As in! I was given some tips as well on how I should write some letters, which would affect a lot of things. It was just a preview but fascinated is not enough to explain the experience. Galing!

HandMAP offers seminars/workshops, trainings to become a Certified Handwriting Master Analyst (CHMA) and grapho-therapy. Check out their website for more details 🙂

I would have stayed and check out the anime convention happening upstairs at the same time but I had to fly to Eastwood for the JeepneyTV ThrowbackTour event :3

Thank you to Ms. Blooey for my media pass! 🙂

Earlier today, I just finished reading “Allegiant” by Veronica Roth. It’s the third book in the Divergent series. No spoilers here, sorry 😛
Hey awesome reader! Are you currently reading a book? Or did you just buy one? I’d love to know 🙂

Let's Talk!
